  Joy Infusion

Feelings of gratitude promotes joy and well being.....gratitude is better than any drug you can take. It makes you feel happy and alive and it brings positive results in to your life daily.

This morning when teaching my Sunday yoga class I began with a visualization that went like this:

Close your eyes and open them from the back....look with in and expand your awareness in to the the inner space..... the inside part of you where everything is calm and okay no matter what is going on around you. Breathing deeply in and out think of something you are grateful for. Feel in your heart the joy and happiness that the positive quality that person, place or thing brings to your life. Feeling your heart flooding with the joy of gratitude.... allow your heart to pump this joy though out your entire body nourishing your cells and organs with gratitude and joy. Continuing your breath, expand the joyful and grateful feelings all around you until it envelopes the world and expands in to the universe at large. At this point you are probably smiling and feeling amazing and connected to every lifing things....continue this joyful feeling through-out your yoga practice and your day infusing your life with joy and gratitude.

  Heaven on Earth
Marcus Aurelius once said "The universe is change; our life is what our thoughts make it."
Our thoughts are vibrations that emit measurable energy waves in to the
atmosphere and these energy waves
create effects which manifest in to the experiences of our life. When we have a difficult time translating our thoughts in to positive experiences is it often because one side of our brain is working harder than the other and there is a feeling of separateness or disconnect or imbalance. Balance and connection gives us a feeling of security and satisfaction, a feeling of wholeness. Engaging in activities and feelings that bring us joy and happiness helps
us to balance the two sides of our brains allowing the sensation of harmony and contentment. Deep conscious pranayama breathing, communing with nature, singing a tune, meditating, practicing yoga, eating, skiing, swimming, helping others.....or what ever makes you happy, are activities when done consciously and joyfully that create a transcendental zone of peace and joy which puts the two sides of our brains, left and right, in harmony. This harmonic functioning of the two brains literally raises our threshold to stress and lowers the effects of stress can have on our bodies allowing us to be happy and see a bigger happier picture even when life looks less than ideal. Moving towards happiness actually creates happiness or as the Zen proverb goes, " there is no way to happiness happiness is the way".
